A Wedding in Harrogate - Carly & Mike

A Wedding in Harrogate

Enjoyed a welcome return when filming a wedding in Harrogate at the Old Swan Hotel.  Carly & Mike’s beautiful Jewish wedding was a spectacular affair, and such a great honor for us to be able to cover the day. Having filmed their before we new what a beautiful place it was. The architecture and styling is incredible, from its revolving doors to its glass ceiling in the Wedgwood Restaurant, the Hotel exudes romance and mystery. It was to this tranquil haven that the mistress of crime-writing, Agatha Christie, famously disappeared in 1926, resulting in a public furor over the 11 days that she could not be traced. The Old Swan is the perfect place for a Jewish wedding, having many large rooms and in such a welcoming part of the country. The large ballroom is a great place for a party, with high ceilings and decorative pillars, once dressed it looks quite special and is a great backdrop for the speeches.

The Wedding Day in Summary

So far this year we have been blessed with some beautiful weather and the sun certainly shone in Harrogate on this day. Carly spent the morning getting ready with her bridesmaids and Mike did the same before relaxing downstairs with his bestmen and ushers. I absolutely love days like this, there is so much activity and being able to walk between one room and the next gives you a great perspective. Watching the Chuppah take shape and the venue being dressed is so exciting and builds anticipation for everyone involved. Carley & Mike had planned this wedding meticulously and it showed. They also have to be one of the nicest couples we have worked with, they both had such a relaxed attitude and just took the whole day in their stride, enjoying every second of it.

Its Party Time!!

I have to say the Israeli Dancing is one of my favourite moments. It can get a bit hectic sometimes and having shot lots of Israeli dancing there doesn’t seem to be any way to predict how its going to go. Suffice to say the best option is to get in amongst the action, there are always a few knocks but getting these angles and covering everything that happens is so important. After Carly & Mike entered there was about 20 minutes of lively music and dance followed by the calm of the speeches. The rest of the evening just flowed by and the band did a great job in helping everyone enjoy the nights celebration. Really loved putting this edit together and look forward to the feature.
